Rell Kapolioka’ehukai Sunn was born on July 31, 1950 in Makaha, Hawaii. Her middle name, which means “the heart of the sea,” was given to her by her grandmother. She began surfing at the age of 4. In 1966, she accompanied “The Duke” on a trip to California to attend a world championship, and began traveling around the world to compete professionally. The 2nd floor “Sunn” Room sits directly above The Duke Studio Suite in honor of their bond. This room features an additional nook with a day/sun bed for those lazy afternoon naps, or perhaps accommodating an extra guest or two during your stay. Come relax inside or outside this room on the “Sunn Bed” or private terrace while enjoying views of the white sand beach, tropical ocean, and picturesque sunsets.
